For my Intermediate Drawing class. 3rd and Final project. “Nude in Sheets” Acrylic on 36in.x48in. canvas. We all know those nude paintings done by the European masters such as Manet’s “Olympia” or even those Greek and Roman Classical nudes. Why are they always of light-skinned women laying so wantonly, exposed, and vulnerable? So I decided to take those paintings and paint everything opposite. This is a male nude. He is not exposed because he is turned away from you and also covered in sheets. It is a dark painting full of shadows and chiaroscuro. But in any case, he is just as beautiful as any of those nude girls.
