For my Intermediate Drawing class.
3rd and Final project.
“Nude in Sheets”
Acrylic on 36in.x48in. canvas.
We all know those nude paintings done by the European masters such as Manet’s “Olympia” or even those Greek and Roman Classical nudes. Why are they always of light-skinned women laying so wantonly, exposed, and vulnerable? So I decided to take those paintings and paint everything opposite. This is a male nude. He is not exposed because he is turned away from you and also covered in sheets. It is a dark painting full of shadows and chiaroscuro. But in any case, he is just as beautiful as any of those nude girls.
From my Intermediate Painting class.
The 2nd Project A.
Acrylic paint on canvas (18in.x36in.).
No title as of now.
Objective was to make two opposing pieces.
This is the image of the girl who see’s her guy on the opposite wall but is unable to reach him, all the while there are easels and chairs between them. This parallels an actual event at a rave where my boyfriend and myself were separated in a large crowd. We could see each other but were physically unable to reach each other because the event staff had closed off the path from the balcony to the floor. It also serves as a metaphor for our physical distance (40 minute drive, one way) and our struggle to be with each other.

2nd Project for 1C.
About capturing a sense of movement or motion in simple 2-D images.
I felt the most appropriate way of executing the piece was to use the comic book template.
Spring 2009.

3rd project for 1B.
Performance piece done in collaboration w/ Hakon Bachman and Joel Youkhanna.
Done in disguise of a critique.
I was up first and presented the statue, which was store-bought from TJ Maxx but covered with clay so i can claim that I made it.
Second up was Hakon, who drew in with paint onto the statue and “ruined” it.
3rd up, Joel took the statues and smashed it on the ground followed with some hits from a hammer.
Overall the critique was about appropriation of other artists piece.
